Jacob Hashimoto:Jacob Hashimoto: skip skitter start trip vault bounce - and other attempts at flight
11/18/2005 - 12/23/2005

The exhibition includes a large-scale installation of shimmering white "kites", each made from silk glued over a tied bamboo frame and suspended from the gallery ceiling to create a cloud like form that expands filling the greater part of the back gallery. Also on view are several wall mounted works ranging in size from 6.5 x 1 foot to 8 x 12 feet.

Hashimoto's work employs hundreds, thousands, even tens of thousands of individual elements that he assembles creating painterly, sometimes sculptural, sometimes monumental environmental works.

Hashimoto was born in 1973 in Greeley, Colorado. In 1996 he received his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the United States and in Europe.
