The Haas Brothers, twins Nikolai and Simon (b. 1984), create playful, engaging, and often erotic works that explore themes of empathy, sexuality, nature, and science fiction. They utilize a range of materials including brass, bronze, ceramic, fur, glass, leather, and individually crafted resins. Scientifically and philosophically precise, The Haas Brothers employ fabrication processes that mimic growth patterns found in nature; the efficiency of various shapes as material; and human reactions to and interactions with anthropomorphic forms. These investigations manifest in an aesthetically diverse body of work that bridges the gap between art and design.

Born into a creative household, Nikolai and Simon Haas were encouraged to create, play, and experiment at a young age. They studied stone carving under their father becoming master stonemasons by the age of 14. In 2003, the twins left Texas to pursue their artistic goals individually. Simon undertook studies at the Rhona Island School of Design, while Nikolai toured the country as a musician. In 2007 the brothers reunited in Los Angeles to form the band RRIICCEE. The Haas Brothers moniker was established in 2010 following an invitation from the L.A based architecture firm Johnston Marklee to collaborate on a major furniture design project. Their current practice is evocative of their diverse collective background and combines the disciplines of music, fashion, art, and design.

The Haas Brothers have exhibited at galleries and institutions internationally including R & Company, New York; Galerie Gmurzynska, Zurich, Salone del Mobile, Milan; Kashar Potamkin, New York; and the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, New York. Other notable projects include fashion and furniture collaborations with designers such as Versace, The Elder Statesman, and Lady Gaga.
Their work is in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, and the Rhode Island School of Design. The Haas Brothers currently live and work in Los Angeles, California.
