Thomas was born in New Jersey and received her BFA from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. She went to Yale University School of Art to receive her MFA, and shortly after was a 2002-03 artist-in-residence at the Studio Museum in Harlem where she was featured in "Hands on, Hands down" exhibition. Since then her work has exhibited at "Pantone" at Massimo Audiello Gallery, "It's About Memory" at Rhona Hoffman Gallery in Chicago, "Me, Myself, and I" at Florida Atlantic University, "Frequency" and "African Queen" at the Studio Museum in Harlem, "Tete-a-Tete" at Greenberg Van Doren Gallery, and the Greater New York 2005 at PS.1/MoMA. Her work has been reviewed in 'Art in America,' 'The New York Times,' The New Yorker,' 'Essence,' 'Wburg.com,' 'Miami New Times,' and 'Art Forum.' She lives and works in New York.
