SPENCER FINCH (b. Connecticut, 1962) carefully records the fleeting and temporal nature of light and color in an art practice that combines science and poetry. The results of his investigations are presented in the form of light boxes, immersive and site-specific installations, and works on paper. For his last solo exhibition at Rhona Hoffman Gallery, Finch presented "Study for Disappearance," a series of six diptychs that recorded the various hues found in his studio and the moment the sunís descent faded the color from the object. Recent museum exhibitions and commissions include: "Ulysses," Marfa Contemporary, Marfa, TX (2014); "A Certain Slant of Light," The Morgan Library in New York (2014); "The Skies Canít Keep Their Secret," Turner Contemporary in Margate, United Kingdom (2014); "Following Nature," Indianapolis Museum of Art, Indianapolis, IN (2013); "Painting Air," Rhode Island School of Design Museum of Art, Providence, RI (2012).
